Preliminary Analysis of PET scan

It's almost certain Murphy has new tumor growth in two areas one of which is causing breathing problems. Dr. Withrow is still consulting with the radiation team and we're meeting back at CSU at 9am. As of yesterday afternoon we discussed putting a scope up there and biopsying the new tissue just to be sure but the PET scan really wiped Murphy out and I'm unsure about performing the procedure today.

If there is new growth this is where it becomes problematic. From my understanding when we finished up the first round of radiation in September the game plan was let's take a look at it in four months and if the tumor's still there let's hit it again until we shrink it completely or it can be removed surgically.

But re-radiating the tumor can have some potentialy deleterious side effects. Hopefully we'll know more in a few hours...

Luke, you know you're in the best of places. I know. I lost my golden to osteosarcoma this year but she was in a clinical trial at CSU for six months - a joyous six months of great health. The team there is incredible, but you already know that. It's so hard. I live in Fort Collins, was at the PuppyUp walk and sure wish you all the best. If you need anything...

I don't subscribe to Facebook, so will post here. Hope it's okay. My sweet Fae (Chinook/husky cross) was lost to mammary adenocarcinoma with mets to her lungs. She received conventional and nonconventional treatment under the care of two vets: one a traditionally trained vet oncologist, the other traditionally trained but holistically inclined. In conjunction with chemotherapy, Fae was given oral neoplasene. I can't say that it offered her benefit, but our holistic vet swears neo has reduced and eliminated tumors when applied to the tumor as a salve or injected directly into the tumor. Here's a link to a very active neo Yahoo Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheBlackSalveNeoplaseneCancerForum/ Like I said, I don't know if it helped Fae or not, but there are a lot of people in this group who will tell you it saved their dogs' lives. Best wishes to you, Murphy, and Hudson. Prayers and positive energies beaming out to Murph.
