Dear Malcolm

It's been four years since we said our goodbyes, mate. You inspired a man of no particular importance, a man of no extraordinary means to embark on a mission that has taken him thousands of miles.

While we couldn't walk them together your spirit is with us always. Today I celebrate that spirit.

Your three greatest virtues were adventurousness, playfulness, & gluttony and that's how I'll spend my day. I'll let you know how it goes...

Love, Papi

*Note: Some of you may not find gluttony a virtue but believe you me, there was a particular kind of piousness in Malcolm's passion for eating

Luke,
Great post. My gluttony is on the rare occasion I eat an ENTIRE piece of cheesecake with strawberries slowly bite by bite with no help from husband, kids or dogs. The dogs, however, love my beef stew and have that same satisfied smile once all the meat, vegetables and soup are completely licked clean from the bowl. Do Malcolm proud today!! We are looking forward to seeing you when you get here to Boston in July. You and the boys are in our thoughts and prayers today and always.

Enjoy your day and cherish your memories, Luke. Malcolm is with you. I truly believe that, just as I believe my Suzi is with me. Bodies die, love doesn't.

We hope to see you in Boston, WITH Lexie. It would be a miracle if she's still with us then but I believe in those, too.

Hugs to you ~

Luke, your caring and passion for Malcolm is awesome!

Having lost my German Shorthair, Buster M to melanoma of the mouth, have to share some wonderful news. According to the internet, it seems as if they are coming out soon with a vaccine for this cruel disease...cannot wait for the day when Cancer in both humans and animals is extinct!

Enjoy your day with "the boys" and thank you from all of us whose lives you have touched and brought some peace to, knowing that there are others who care.

Great post in memory of Malcolm. As 2010 begins, Marley and me (cancer survivors) know first-hand that we can beat this disease. Sprint to the finish line!
